This timelapse is largely concerned with rolling cabbages. Check out the gameplay video if you want to see how they look in action
Gameplay Video
Here is a gameplay video showing a few sample levels, and a little of the Level Editor.
The music is by John Sebastian Willow, and is one of the tracks used in-game.
Game Art timelapse 3
I am now finished with all the enemies that Dirt Dig will inherit from its 1995 ancestor, Bob the Hamster VGA. I am also working on a level-package based on the levels from BobVGA– naturally, they play rather differently in the new game than they did in the old game.
Game Art Timelapse number 2
Here is another months worth of game art timelapse! I am happy about how motivated I feel about this project.
You might wonder why I don’t use flood-fill even though I am working with thick outlines and solid colors. There are a couple reasons.
- I love not having to think about connecting all my lines and enclosing my spaces. Making sure all lines are connected for flood fill makes me feel stressed-out.
- Coloring in the solid areas manually makes me feel like I am a little kid doing a coloring-book. It is fun! It makes me feel nostalgic and happy, and that is super-important for keeping myself motivated.
Even if flood-fill might be a slightly *faster* workflow, hand-filling is a vastly more *enjoyable* workflow for me.
The music is “A Year Ago” by Pitx from ccMixter
Game art Timelapse
Bob the Hamster Dirt Dig is still a work-in-progress. Here is a timelapse video I made of myself working on the game art.
