Jessica. Can you attach mygame.rpg to this bug? (or if you don't want to attach
it, mail it directly to one of the developers)

This works for me. Unless we can get confirmation, I recommend that we mark this
"worksforme".

I still want to test this with the specific file that Jessica mentioned.
Don't close this bug yet, but since it is only one one game we can remove it as
a Tirgoviste blocker.

This is the game that crashes
this is the save before the first crash.
bug does not work every time but has happened the same way twice so don't give
up if it does not work the first time
2nd time I remember what I was doing beforehand - I changed the title screen
then selected the edit attakcs menu and it crashed

It happened again with a different game. The error message was the same apart
from the game address line and this line:

I tried this, repeatedly, with the game Jessica provided, and I got nothing.

Jessica: What version of Windows are you running? Windows XP? Windows 98?
Something else? How much conventional memory do you have? Type MEM at a DOS
prompt to find out.

I was running Windows 98. I have 640K conventional memory(total). I got that
using "mem" and I don't know if I read the right number.

Nah, that was the wrong number. Look for "Largest Executable Program Size"
The reason I ask, is because I was wondering if maybe this crash was caused by
having just barely enough memory to run custom, but not enough to run the attack
editor.
Seeing if the same crash occurs when you run CUSTOMQB in DosBOX would be a good
test, since it always provides more conventional memory than a Windows DOS prompt.

Dosbox on Winows or Linux? The largest executable size is 556K.
ohrrpgce-bugbot commentedon May 4, 2006
Comment author: @bob-the-hamster
Oh! 556k. Yeah, that is very likely to be the problem. Can you even run
GAME-QB.EXE at all? It my test, the tirgoviste version of GAME-QB could crashes
instantly with less than 574k
Read
http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/wiki/ohrrpgce/index.php/How_do_I_get_more_Conventional_DOS_memory%3F
and see if that information helps you free up enough memory to use CUSTOMQB
without triggering this crash in the attack editor.
As for DosBox, it doesn't matter if you do it on Windows or Linux. The results
should be the same.
