I click the program and see an error message
From OHRRPGCE-Wiki
To really get help, you need to know your exact error message, and a description of when and where it happened.
Contents |
[edit] Windows Errors
If your error message is in a Pop-up dialog box, and you can still see your desktop, then the error message is probably Windows's fault, not the OHRRPGCE's fault
[edit] DOS Errors
If your error message is in a black DOS box and you can still see the desktop, then CUSTOM.EXE or GAME.EXE encountered an error it could not handle. This probably means a memory problem, or an installation problem, or a temporary-file locking problem.
- You can copy-and-paste error messages from black DOS windows for easier reporting.
[edit] DOS Errors that go by too fast
If your error message is in a black DOS box but it disappears so fast you cannot read it, Right-click on the program and pick Properties and look for the checkbox labeled Close on Exit and turn it off
- If this option is unavalable in your version of Windows, go to START->Run and type COMMAND and then run the program from DOS
[edit] OHRRPGCE Internal Errors
If your error message is in big letters in a red box on a black screen, then you are looking at an OHRRPGCE internal error. Mostly this includes version warnings and script errors.
- Unfortunately you cannot copy-and paste these errors, so write them down for reporting. (or take a screenshot)
