The Attack editor is where you design attacks. Attacks are used for weapons, items, spells, and skills. Anything that a hero or enemy can do in battle is an attack.

[edit] Name:

Type a name for your attack. If this attack is going to be a spell, this is the name that will appear in the spell menu. If the attack is assigned to a weapon, this is the name that will appear on the first slot of the battle menu when that weapon is equipped.

[edit] Caption:

The caption is a line of text that can be displayed on-screen in battle when the attack is used.

A common way to use the caption is to simply display the name of a spell while the attack is being performed, as is standard in many commercial RPGs. The caption can also hold more characters than the attack name. So if you want an attack named "Flaming Sword," which is too long to fit in the attack name, you can put that in the caption and give the attack a name like "FSword."

A second use is in-battle dialogue. An enemy could use an attack that does no damage but that has a caption, letting them speak to the heroes during the battle. Speech can be attached to normal attacks as well, perhaps making the hero say "Take that!" when they hit an enemy or read some incantation when they cast a spell.

The caption can also inform the player of what an attack does. When an attack affects a stat other than HP this won't necessarily be obvious to the player. So if you make a spell that raises a hero's defense, you might put "Defense increased!" in the caption. Sometimes this information can be conveyed in the name of an attack (players will assume that an attack named "DefUp" increases their defense), but that's not always the case.
